CFDD 2014 Advisor Conference
San Antonio, TX
October 16, 2014
Matt Gnabasik will be moderating a panel titled “Liquid Alternatives: Weighing the Tradeoffs in DC Plan Lineups.”
Many defined contribution plan participants have chronically undersaved while misallocating their investments during their working careers. While this savings crisis is being mitigated by plans implementing automatic features to their plans, there are additional benefits to helping plan participants delegate their asset allocation responsibilities to investment professionals. This shift in strategy has opened the door for increased usage of liquid alternatives in various custom asset allocation strategies like Custom Target-Date Funds and Managed Accounts. This panel will discuss important benefits and risks associated with adding liquid alts to a DC plan lineup. A few of these important factors that fiduciaries must consider include correlation, cost structure, transparency, daily valuation and historical track record.
