Matt founded Blue Prairie Group in 2002, after a career in the institutional retirement consulting field, which included heading up three separate institutional retirement consulting practices in Florida and the Midwest. Matt has worked with hundreds of corporate, not-for-profit, and government clients throughout the country and is the author of the award-winning book, Smart Choices: Selecting and Administering a Safe 401(k) Plan.

Written for plan sponsors and advisors in the field, Smart Choices remains a classic guidebook through the confusing world of retirement plan choices.

Matt’s areas of expertise include Fiduciary-based Investment Consulting™, fee analysis and negotiation, stable value investments, strategic plan design, custom target date funds and risk mitigation.  He writes and speaks regularly on important and timely institutional retirement topics and is frequently quoted by the national media.

In addition, Matt is very active in the retirement advising/consulting community. He is part of the New York Life ACAB group, BlackRock DC Leaders Circle, Natixis Advisory Board and a member of the DCIAA Treasury Sub-Committee.

Matt holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. Working to keep the prairie metaphor real, Matt grows prairie flowers and raises bees in his suburban Chicago backyard.

As chief investment officer, and chair of BPG’s internal investment committee, Gary leads the development of Blue Prairie Group’s investment philosophy and outlook. Gary also oversees the wealth management practice area.

Prior to joining Blue Prairie Group, Gary was CEO of Netvestment, Inc., an internet-based platform that, in partnership with Standard and Poors, enabled online researching and monitoring of institutional investment managers. Before founding Netvestment, he was principal of Fairview Analytics, an investment consultancy providing asset allocation and mutual fund selection guidance, primarily to the bank brokerage channel. Earlier in his career, Gary was vice president and general manager for institutional services with Morningstar, Inc., and before that served as director of sales and marketing at Morningstar.

Gary earned his BA from Vassar College and an MBA from Harvard University. He is a member of the CFA Institute.

As a Senior ERISA Consultant and Managing Partner at Blue Prairie Group, Ty Parrish specializes in creating healthy retirement plans for all types of institutional clients by helping busy executives design, implement and monitor successful retirement plans. Over his 18-year career he has worked for an insurance company, a bank and a mutual fund company providing him with an invaluable perspective on how these types of organizations operate which he utilizes to create compliant, efficient and effective retirement plans for his clients.

Ty is passionate about driving plan success and uses BPG’s proprietary Plan Health Smartcard to measure, diagnose and drive better results for his clients. In fact, BPG’s clients score significantly higher then their peers in critical areas of plan success. As a result, more of their participants are on track to a secure retirement and their plan sponsors clients have been able to minimize the personal and organizational risk associated with sponsoring an ERISA retirement plan.

Ty is a graduate of the University of Florida Warrington School of Business with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) certification, administered by Investment Management Consultants Association® and taught in conjunction with The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he holds the Certified 401(k) Professional- C(k)P™ designation from UCLA Anderson Executive Education.

Ty and his wife, Jen, are high school sweethearts who reside in Tampa with their three daughters Kiley, Ally and Sammy ages 13, 12 and 11. Besides golf and Florida Gator football, Ty most enjoys exploring the world with his family and has enjoyed trips to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon National Park and Italy over the past few years.

Carmela Elco is a Managing Director and Senior ERISA Consultant with Blue Prairie Group who enjoys working with clients to help them comply with ever-changing rules and regulations, work through complex and sensitive retirement plan mergers, build thoughtful and responsible defined benefit replacement plans, monitor investments and help them understand the challenges and available opportunities to build an effective and competitive program. She has hands-on experience with multiple plan consolidations, employee communication and administration from a plan sponsor perspective.

Carmela began her career with RESOURCES for Retirement as Vice President of Client Services where she was responsible for investment advisory services working closes with clients to make certain they received the best service available to meet their specific needs. She then became President of RESOURCES for Retirement, and led the firm with the same dedication to superior client service that she had in her previous role.

In 2008, Ms. Elco testified before the U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council on the topic of Target Date Fund analysis. The council is charged with providing advice and policy recommendations on retirement security and other employee benefit issues to the Secretary of Labor. Ms. Elco’s testimony, along with other nationally recognized industry leaders, was used to craft DOL recommendations on best practices for plan sponsors on the evaluation and analysis of target date funds within company sponsored retirement plans.

In 2015, Carmela was named one of the top Women Advisors in the country by the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA). According to NAPA, the list recognized leaders among the growing number of women "making significant contributions to this field" and who are "in a league of their own." Carmela was selected from more than 450 nominees who were voted on by roughly 12,500 industry professionals.

Carmela has extensive training as a human resources professional as well as in investment analytics. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and holds an M.A. in Human Resources Management from St. Francis University. She has her FINRA Series 6, 63, 7, 24 and 65, Pennsylvania Health Insurance Representative Registrations and has obtained her Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation from the Foundation of Fiduciary Studies. She recently was invited to join the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group (GPSEG), a membership association of select leaders from a diverse range of industries and business backgrounds.

Patrick brings relevant and varying experience to the Performance Analyst role, having worked at a sports marketing firm and as a Field Economist for the Department of Labor within the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

He graduated from Loyola University of Chicago in May 2009, where he received a BA with concentrations in finance and economics. He is currently a candidate in the CFA program.

Rick Harris is a managing director at Blue Prairie Group and serves as the firm’s Practice Leader in the nonprofit and higher education space. His primary expertise is as a fiduciary and ERISA consultant to private educational institutions with regard to their defined contribution retirement plans. Rick’s financial investment background provides a depth of knowledge in many facets of the financial industry, and his previous work as a college professor gives him distinct insight and expertise in serving the private/higher education community.

Prior to joining Blue Prairie Group, Rick worked for CFP, Inc., where his primary responsibility was working with private colleges and universities, and other select employers, as a fiduciary consultant to their 403(b)/401(k) retirement plans.

Before entering the financial services industry in 2002, Rick served on the faculties of several different institutions of higher education, most recently at Bradley University (Peoria, IL), Bowling Green State University (Bowling Green, OH), and Bluffton University (Bluffton, OH).

Rick received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Idaho and his Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. After receiving formal training in prudent investment process and ISO-like assessment procedures, Rick earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA®) professional designation, awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, which is associated with the University of Pittsburgh.

Rick is active in his local church, and sits on the advisory board of Crosshill Christian School, where he also coaches middle-school basketball. Rick was a founding member and served on the executive committee of the (International) Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers. He also served for several years as director of the Keizer Upward Youth Basketball League.

Rick, Amy, and their two sons currently reside in Keizer, a northern suburb of Salem. He and his family enjoy camping, backpacking, canoeing, basketball, music, reading, and performing fun (and probably dangerous) science experiments in their kitchen and backyard.

Prior to joining Blue Prairie Group, Michael founded and was president of PENSION INSIGHT, a firm which provided companies with a strategic framework and resources to mare effectively address their 401(k) responsibilities and alleviate many of the traditional administrative burdens with plan oversight.

Since joining BPG in 2006, Warren has supported the needs of numerous clients across a wide variety of industries and functions. In addition to serving as several clients’ Human Resources leader, Warren developed and implemented such projects as HR assessments, organizational restructuring, new hire on-boarding and leadership training. He currently leads and supports BPG’s internal HR needs.

Sarah Saites is the Client Services Associate for Blue Prairie Group. Sarah works closely with the Wealth Management advisors to manage all of their current client’s needs. She is also responsible for providing administrative and back office support to all BPG employees.

Additionally, Sarah participates in many client interactions with each advisor in the hopes of becoming a financial analyst or planner in the future.

Sarah is a graduate of Central Michigan University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science and Business Administration. She also recently earned a Masters of Business Degree in Finance and Leadership and Change Management from DePaul University. Paul has worked in the retirement consulting space for nearly 10 years. Prior to joining Blue Prairie Group, Paul worked at a Minneapolis-based investment advisory firm as an Account Executive where he managed and consulted over 40 separate 401(k), 403(b) and pension plans. Paul also assisted in investment research and was a non-voting member of the investment committee.

Paul graduated cum laude from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Financial Management.
