Gary Silverman, CFA

Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer

As Chief Investment Officer, Gary Silverman specializes in defining, articulating, and overseeing the implementation of prudent investment research processes and the development of meaningful, useful client deliverables.

Gary began working in the investment area as a mid-career transition. He began studying investments while working as head of sales and marketing at Morningstar and pursued this
passion at various venues since as an analyst, portfolio manager, and wealth advisor (Gary also heads up Blue Prairie Group’s Wealth Management practice area).

Gary is the architect behind the BPG Investment SmartCard™ that is designed to help busy retirement plan fiduciaries make informed decisions related to the investments in their retirement plans. The BPG SmartCard™ utilizes a sophisticated quantitative algorithm to weight twenty-two major factors in order to produce a single score that helps assess the overall health of an investment.

Gary earned a B.A. in Economics and Computer Science from Vassar College and his M.B.A. from Harvard University. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1999 and is a member of the CFA Institute. Gary has served on the faculty of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, IL, and City University of Seattle’s foreign MBA program taught in Beijing, China.

Gary lives in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta. He has been happily married for 25 years (to Marion, who he met at Vassar) and has two children: Jennifer, a graduate from Vassar, and David, a sophomore at George Washington University. While most of Gary’s non-professional life revolves around his family, he is an avid reader of American history (with a special interest in
biographies). Gary loves to exercise, particularly in endurance-related physical activities. He holds a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and regularly participates in full-contact sparring.
