As a well-known speaker, author and innovator in the retirement plan industry, Matt Gnabasik specializes in simplifying complex retirement plans issue for his clients by utilizing his deep experience and expertise to drive better outcomes for participants and reduced liability for plan sponsors.

Matt is the founder of Blue Prairie Group, widely recognized as one of the leading ERISA-focused RIA firms in the country. Over the course of his 20+ year career, Matt has worked with hundreds of corporate, not-for-profit, and government clients throughout the country including Akzo Nobel, Hertz, Discovery Communications, Waste Management, Midas, Huron Consulting, Tenneco Automotive, Illinois Hospital Association and the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Matt is the author of the award-winning book, Smart Choices: Selecting and Administering a Safe 401(k) Plan. Written for plan sponsors and advisors in the field, Smart Choices remains a classic guidebook through the confusing world of retirement plan choices. He holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management.

Matt lives in Chicago with his wife, Gina. Working to keep the prairie metaphor real, Matt and Gina are urban farmers growing prairie flowers and raising bees in their suburban backyard. When he is not working, Matt is an avid skier and hiker and plays guitar in his rock, folk and bluegrass band.
